Binding 2
Late medieval parchment wrapper with turn-ins (some lost). The left cover is noticeably smaller at the foot, perhaps due to shrinkage. Top of cover, in brown ink: ‘No 28’. Upper left corner, label, text in brown ink: ‘A 52’. Below this, in brown ink: ‘24’. Lower right side, vertically, in brown ink: ‘N 50 3ius in ordine planctus ecclesie’.
The phrase ‘N 5:o 3ius in ordine planctus ecclesie’ on LCO_2 most likely refers to the shelfmark system in Vadstena monastery, described by Fredriksson (1997) and Nordin (2021), p. 34. The covers may have been previously used for a work with the title ‘Planctus Ecclesie’. Monica Hedlund has suggested that the note was written by Michael Nicolai, priest-brother in Vadstena 1487-1516. He is also the scribe for the National Library MS A 113; see Hedlund (1980), p. 45
The Antiquities Archive. Current signum, A 52, first established in Helin’s catalogue from the 1720s (U 91:2:2). Also mentioned in the following catalogues and inventories: U 90:4, p. 91, ‘24. Sermones sacri, manu antiqua’; U 91:2:1; ‘24. Sermones sacri, manu antiqua.’; U 91:5, ‘N xx’, (changed from xxviii).
