Binding

Description:

Possibly 17th century parchment binding over cardboard. Four double raised bands and endbands. Spine, top to bottom: ‘34’, ‘200’, both in brown ink; the current signum, ‘A 143 ’stamped in gold; paper label with the reference numbers ‘30.2.6 ’; paper label with former signum: ‘6’, followed by illegible text. LCO and RCO: traces of a spine with penwork inscription, indicating that the leather on the binding was reused from an older and much larger book.
