Early modern binding. Leather over cardboard. 3 double raised bands and endbands. Spine, four papers labels, three of which are pasted over older labels. From top to bottom: ‘N. 18’, ‘56.’, ‘(155)’; ‘N^o 16. Nic. Lyrani commentarius in Epistolas Pauli et Apocalypin’; stamped in gold: ‘A 156’; ‘16’; ‘e 30. 3. 3.’. LCO, traces of a label on the upper part of the cover. There are also traces of writing in black ink directly on the cover.

Binding dimensions: 310 × 220 × 65 mm

Condition: Leather extremely worn. Boards exposed in several places. Holes in covers after corner pieces or bosses and probably also clasps.

Provenance

According to the note on LCI a medieval hand states that the book once belonged to Bernardus Hannegrene, who is known to have been a master at the University of Paris in the early 1500's, see Farge (2006), p. 345.

Acquisition

The manuscript has been at the National Library since at least the 17th century. Most of the signa on the spine correspond to older library catalogues. The manuscript is listed in Jaches's catalogue of of 1695 (U 118:10) as ‘155’, and in the catalogue of 1698 (U 122) as ‘56’; as ‘16’ in the catalogue of 1734 (U 125e); and as ‘e. 30. 3. 3.’ in Hammarsköld's catalogue of the 19th century (U 133). The signum ‘18’ has not been identified.
